Meet Priscilla — 30+ years teaching piano in Edmonton
I'm Priscilla, and I teach piano at AIM Up Piano Studio. I've been doing this for more than thirty years here in Edmonton, which means I've sat beside a lot of nervous beginners, a lot of teenagers working through exam pieces, and a lot of parents wondering whether their child will stick with it. Most of them do, and the reason is usually simpler than people expect: progress feels good, and feeling good about something makes you want to come back to it.
Keeping a musical tradition alive is the short version of why I still do this. In thirty-plus years of teaching, my goals have been to instill confidence in my students and to give my students hope. The ultimate goal of taking piano lessons is to add to our happiness. Parents are happy to see their child learn and progress; students are happy because the music they couldn't play last month is suddenly under their fingers. That's the whole thing, really.

Piano lessons that are structured, friendly, and fun
Piano lessons are what I do — it's the only service I offer, and I'd rather do one thing properly than offer a menu. My lessons are well organized and structured, but at the same time very friendly and fun as well. Those two things are not in conflict. A student who knows what we're working on and why will relax into the lesson, and a relaxed student learns faster than a worried one.
In practice, that looks like this:
- A clear plan for each lesson, so no one is guessing what happens next
- Explanations broken down until they actually make sense — not repeated louder
- Pieces chosen to suit the student in front of me, not a one-size-fits-all list
- Steady, visible progress that students and parents can both hear
- A friendly room where mistakes are part of the work, not a reason to tense up
I teach students of different ages and stages, and the pace is set by the student. Some want to work toward exams and certificates. Some want to play songs they love for their own satisfaction. Both are good reasons to learn piano, and both are welcome at the studio.

What my students and their families say
AIM Up Piano Studio is rated 5 out of 5 from 10 reviews. I'd rather you read the reviews than the number, so here are two of them in the reviewers' own words.
I've had such a great experience with this piano teacher. Priscilla is patient, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about teaching. She explains things clearly and makes each lesson… — a student of the studio
Priscilla teaches my daughter, an… — a studio parent
Patient, clear, passionate — that's the feedback I hear most often, and it's the standard I try to hold myself to in every lesson. Families in Edmonton have been sending their children to me for decades now, and a few of my earliest students have gone on to send their own kids.
Lesson times and how to get started
The studio is open Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 8:30pm, and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:30pm. Saturdays are closed. That spread of hours exists so lessons can fit around school, work, and the rest of family life — after-school slots are popular, so it's worth asking early about weekday evenings.
The best first step is a conversation. Tell me about the student: their age, whether they've played before, what they're hoping to get out of lessons, and what your week looks like. From there we can figure out a time that works and what the first few lessons should cover. You can reach me by email at psyndicate@hotmail.com or by phone at (780) 965-5677 during studio hours, and I'm glad to answer questions before you commit to anything.
